What's up everyone. I know that last week I posted an article about my own tattoo experience. I hope you guys like it because I do like it a lot lol. Moreover, if you guys haven't check out my tattoo artist yet, make sure to do so because I think that you will never going to regret it. His Instragram is called "Alltimeink", his studio is in Bangkok.
Moving up to this week, I think that it is about time that I want to talk about getting tattoos in my society. As you know that tattoos are all around the world. However, tradition and values in each society plays a part in tattoos and make it totally different from each other.
Me as a Thai, University student who has already 6 tattoos by the age 19, so many people think that I'm too fast on this stuff and did not think critically before getting a tattoo. However, that is not true at all, I had think a lot before getting ant tattoos on my body, not only the job factor but also about the meaning the position the artist etc. From the stuff I has experienced, it made me wonder that why people have this set of thinking so I want to dig in the Asian society to see what is a set of tradition on tattoo.
We believe that the first tattoo culture in Asia is occurs in Japan The document talks about how the Japanese used tattoos for self-adornment rather than for spiritual or magical purposes, which had been major motivators for earlier Asians to get tattooed. In China, they has adopt tattoo culture from Japan. However, they changed that style by put in their culture of art like dragons or another Chinese stuff.
In Thailand, tattoo are more about politic, Thai men who has to work to the government has to tattooed a number of his citizen number or it is about believe, likely to found in soldier the believe in Buddhism and spirit made a lot of monk practiced magic and tattoo. In addition, they claimed that the tattoos made them stronger and hard to die.
In modern day, Chinese people are more opened to tattoos and they have a lot of good artist. It can be see that Chinese tattoos are very popular to many westerners because of it unique characteristic. On the other hand, in Japan people are still not seeing tattoos as an art, for them its express as Yakuza or gangster, trouble people or criminals. I personally has an experienced that I can not get into hot-tub in Japan because I have too many tattoos. In Thailand, I think people are more open to it. A lot of young people have tattoo. I think in Thailand now people who are against tattoos are 50+ elders.
